A sea of red took over in Minnesota on Saturday. Then on Sunday, Packer fans took over the Metrodome
Dixiefried Duds Week 8
.Rick Neuheisel- It's bad enough that UCLA is 18-26 with Neuheisel as coach. It's even worse that his team was down 42-7 to a 1-5 Arizona team that just fired Mike Stoops. The brawl Neuheisel's team got into on Thursday Night was an embarrassment to UCLA. 6 players were suspended and the Bruins look like a program out of control. The end is near for the former UCLA QB.
.Oklahoma Thunderstorms- For the 2nd time this year a game in Oklahoma has had a long delay due to weather. The first was an OSU-Tulsa game that didn't start until very early Sunday Morning. The Oklahoma-Texas Tech game started much earlier than that, but the long delay should have been longer since OU didn't show up until about 2 hours later.
.Houston Nutt PC- After blowing a 17-0 lead to Arkansas on Saturday, Houston Nutt decided it was smart to attack a reporter, Neal McCready who works for RebelGrove.com. McCready had predicted last week Ole Miss would lose 49-10 to Arkansas, but the Rebs played tough early and only lost 29-24. “They played real hard,” Nutt said. “They played harder than that 49-10, right, Neal? One on my players told me. I don’t read your stuff; they tell me what you say. One of my freshmen told me that Neal McCready wrote that we were going to get beat 49-10. It wasn’t no 49-10" Houston has now lost his fans support and now has lost the support of the media that once loved him in Oxford.
.Tulane- Entering week 8 if you asked me who the two worst teams in the country were I would have said New Mexico and Memphis. Well, Tulane had a chance to win a home game against Memphis, but fell short 33-17 to this awful Tiger team.
.New Mexico- The Lobos are just awful and it doesn't matter if an interim head coach is coaching right now. New Mexico this week lost to TCU 69-0. This was a school record in points scored for TCU as the Horned Frogs out gained the Lobos 515 to 85. New Mexico is now 0-7 and if they can't beat UNLV at home they will end the year 0-12.
.Florida Atlantic- FAU spent the first month of the season on the road. One would think that a brutal road schedule would have helped them prepare for opening up their new stadium. This hasn't been the case though. Since opening the new stadium the Owls have been outscored 58-14 in 2 losses to Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky. This is a sad ending to a great career for Schnellenberger
.Minnesota Fans- I understand the team they pull for isn't worth watching, but the Gopher fans failed to support their team Saturday and turned their stadium into a home game for Nebraska. Husker Fans gobbled up tickets and turned TCF Bank Stadium into Memorial Stadium North. At least Husker fans didn't tear down Minnesota's goalposts down like Iowa did several years back. On Sunday during the Packers-Vikings game you could certainly hear vocal chants of "Go Pack Go" at the Metrodome.
.The Big East- Currently the leader of The Big East, Cincinnati, lost to a bad Tennessee team 45-23. The defending champ lost to Vanderbilt earlier this year. The team most thought was the best team in the Big East, West Virginia, was beaten badly by a Syracuse team that needed a last minute field goal to beat an awful Tulane team. This is a terrible conference that is only going to get worse when the conference expansion shuffle is over.
.Derek Dooley- With 9 minutes left in this past Saturday's game against Alabama, Dooley pulled the redshirt of QB Justin Worley. Worley, a highly touted QB out of Rock Hill, SC was expected by most to redshirt this year. Instead, with the game against Alabama out of hand Dooley decides to put in Worley. Tennessee isn't going to win any kind of championship this year so why burn a redshirt on Worley? Plus, Tyler Bray will be QB at UT the next 2 seasons. This means instead of giving Worley a chance to start as a redshirt sophomore after Bray graduates, he will now be a junior.
.Kevin Wilson- Not only is Wilson's Indiana team 1-7 and 0-4 in the Big 10, but Wilson just lost his biggest commit 5 star QB Gunner Kiel. Kiel is no longer even considering the Hoosiers. This is a huge blow to Wilson, who was offensive coordinator at Oklahoma a year ago.
