Richardson is first on our latest Heisman Candidate List
2011 Heisman Candidates Week 8
1. Trent Richardson RB Alabama(912 yards rushing 16 total TDS)- Richardson now has 6 consecutive 100 yard rushing games. His 76 yard run against Ole Miss last week was the biggest Heisman Moment of the year for any candidate. Richardson ranks 2nd nationally in rushing yards and also has 15 receptions.
2. Russell Wilson QB Wisconsin(95-128 1557 yds 14 TDs 1 INT)- Wilson has been near perfect for the Badgers this year. His passing yards aren't high, but that's due to the offense he's in and the fact that he isn't needed to pass the ball in the 2nd half. Last weekend Wilson actually caught a TD pass. He ranks first in passing efficiency.
3. Andrew Luck QB Stanford(129-181 1719 yds 18 TD 3 INT)- Luck has been great all year, but has yet to get a signature win this season. The two players in front of Luck both have wins over top 15 teams.
4.Landry Jones QB Oklahoma(171-253 2177 yds 16 TD 6 INT)- Jones is 3rd nationally in passing yards and the QB for a national championship contender, but his passing rating is only #18 in the NCAA.
5. Robert Griffin III QB Baylor(143-183 1950 yds 22 TD 2 INT)- Griffin has the best numbers of any of the top 4, but Baylor has 2 losses and isn't a BCS contender. Since the award is given to players on top tier teams, Griffin might miss out on a chance to go to New York.
6. Kellen Moore QB Boise State(151-199 1729 yds 21 TD 4 INT)- Moore has the numbers and will become CFB's all time leader in wins for a starting QB, but he hasn't had a good win since week 1.
7. Case Keenum QB Houston(170-238 2309 yds 17 TD 2 INT)- Keenum leads the nation in passing with 384 yds a game. He's likely to break Timmy Changs NCAA passing record sometime in November. Houston is 6-0 and ranked in the top 25, but the best team they've beaten is a mediocre UCLA team.
8. Ryan Broyles WR Oklahoma(60 receptions 815 yds 9 TD)- Broyles is now the NCAA all time reception leader. He's certainly going to be first team All American at WR, but isn't likely to get invited to New York because his QB will take votes away from him.
9. LaMichael James RB Oregon(859 yds rushing 8 TDs)- James was shut down against LSU in week 1 and hasn't really been on the national map since. He did have a scary injury last week after a big performance on ESPN, but will recover from the injury. James does lead the nation in yds per game, but right now Trent Richardson is the hottest RB in college football.
10. Brandon Weeden QB Oklahoma State(189-260 2098 yds 16 TD 6 INT)- You could put Weedon or Blackmon in this spot. I chose Weeden because he plays the higher profile position. The chances of either player making it to New York will likely depend on a win against Oklahoma.
